Last week the Oklahoma State House of Representatives voted on Senate Bill 1513, a bill that would prevent the school districts you pay for from requiring or coercing teachers to meet with representatives from leftist teachers unions.
Even though many lawmakers caved to union pressure, and the bill failed, Representative Toni Hasenbeck stood up strongly for teachers to be able to make their own decisions.
As a former teacher, Representative Hasenbeck remembers that Oklahoma public schools exist to educate children, not funnel money to unions pushing radical social agendas in classrooms. She ignored the pressure from outside groups, and kept her focus where it should be: on teachers and students.
Oklahoma needs more lawmakers like Toni Hasenbeck.
